Pet Foster Parent Program
To save animals from the possibility of being euthanized in a local shelter, we have created a foster program. Individuals within the community can apply to become foster parents. Being a foster parent means opening your heart and home to animals in need and living by the Isle of Wight County Humane Society's mission and values.
The foster program consists of the below three steps and qualifications:

Our Board Members will review
your application and contact you via the information you provide.
Step Three
Get Connected
You will be assigned a foster pet
mentor that will assist you
while Onboarding.
Pet Foster Parent Program
Qualifications
Before you begin the pet foster parent application, please make sure you meet the following qualifications:

Must be 21 years or older

Must live in the Hampton Roads Region

Must live at a permanent address

Must be able to keep foster pet separate from owned animals for 10–14 days

Owned pets must be spayed/neutered

Must be able to bring fosters to all scheduled medical appointments

No felony convictions of any kind, or misdemeanors related to animal cruelty, drugs, theft, or violence
